Telford has an amazing selection of family-friendly restaurants and cafes to dine in. The high streets and shopping malls of our market towns jostle with local cafes as well as the big-name brands you can trust to dish up familiar meals kids know and love, such as TGI Fridays and Nandos.

For somewhere a bit different, try Novello on Southwater Square. This dog-friendly restaurant serves kid-friendly plates alongside bang bang chicken and martinis for you. The décor will get you talking, too.

There are plenty of country pubs that look after pint-sized guests as well as they do their bigger ones. The Half Moon Inn is within walking distance of many of the Ironbridge Gorge museums. Its beer garden, nudging along the banks of the River Severn, is perfect for chilling out in on a sunny summer’s day.

Family is part of the fabric of The Windmill at Rowton. It’s been run by the same family for generations so they really know what children and parents want from a pub, right down to the homemade ice cream and local beers. You’re as likely to meet locals propping up the bar here as you are other holidaymakers.

The Gratitude Café in Wellington does more than fill hungry tummies. As well as serving coffee and homemade cake for grown-ups, there are toys and books for kids to play with and the cafe hosts regular events, including plenty for families such as bake clubs and tile decorating. Children are so central to the café’s ethos that staff are paediatric first aid and DBS trained.
