The aim of the role is to help the Library Service with the delivery of the Summer Reading Challenge. The Summer Reading Challenge encourages children aged 4 - 11 years to read six books during the long summer holidays.
Throughout the Summer Reading Challenge library staff and volunteers encourage children, helping them to discover new authors and explore different types of books. Volunteers also help staff deliver activities during the summer.
We are are looking for someone: Reliable, friendly and enthusiastic, with good communication skills, who has an interst in working with children.
You need to be between the age 12-19 years.
You will need to volunteer for at least 12 hours over the summer holidays but there is some flexibilty on how often you would volunteer. Volunteer sessions are for three hours at a time.
The extact times varies depending on which library you are volunteering at.
Training will take place on Thursday 27 June 5.30-8pm at Wellington Lirabry or Saturday 29 June 1-4.30pm at Southwater Library.
