We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic person to become the Group Co-ordinator for our Telford Tea Party Group. At the core of our national charity lies the simple, but captivating, concept of a monthly Sunday afternoon tea amongst friends in a kind host’s home. It is an enjoyable way to help relieve weekend loneliness for those elderly people who live alone and miss social contact. In fact, it’s a real lifeline. Our Group Co-ordinators arrange the monthly Sunday outings with their group, and make sure everything runs smoothly. They are usually a volunteer driver as well. Every month you will need to: phone the host well in advance to arrange or confirm the date, give rough numbers and arrival times and perhaps get directions for the drivers. Give details of the venue to the drivers and ask them to let you know by the Wednesday before the party how many guests will they bring. Phone the host by the Thursday before the party to confirm numbers.
Normally a group will consist of a team of 5 drivers, 8 older guests, and sufficient hosts to allow for a different venue each month. The drivers join in and help during the afternoon in any way they can. The party arrives at 3.00 p.m. and leaves at 5.00 p.m. giving time to chat and enjoy afternoon tea and friendship./p>
