The Telephone Chat Scheme supports older people who may be struggling with loneliness and/or isolation, particularly in relation to the anxiety and loss of confidence caused by the Covid-19 isolation period.

The role is involves working from our home, calling clients once or more times a week at agreed times, to chat, listen and check that they’re coping OK.

Our members are men and women of all age, keen to help other people both locally and around the world. Couples are welcomed and Rotary offers a great way to make new friends and enjoy social activities while helping others.

We volunteer our time to serve the local community by supporting community events, running educational programmes and raising thousands, of pounds for community projects, local charities and global schemes like polio eradication..

Activities range from helping at prostate screening and health awareness events, assisting those affected by flooding and disease, fundraising for local hospices, organising sports tournaments for disabled youngsters and even running dog shows! By joining us in Rotary you can help others in communities near and far.

 

What will you do?

Complete an induction to Citizens Advice and training for your role

Develop a fundraising action plan, exploring different ways of fundraising including identifying new sources of funding from organisations.

Build meaningful relationships with local organisations and businesses

Organise fundraising events to raise money from the local community and encourage volunteers and staff to get involved

Keep accurate records relating to fundraising monies, providing monthly reports on fundraising events

Create materials, such as newsletters or presentations, which can be used to raise the profile of Citizens Advice and for raising money

Support with communications and marketing work related to fundraising, including contributing to fundraising campaigns and related communications plans

Accessing Resources in the Community (ARC) provides one to one support to 16-24 year olds who are in, or at risk of being involved in, the Criminal Justice System across West Mercia. Commissioned by John Campion, West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner, ARC uses YSS Service Coordinators and Volunteer Mentors to support young people who are referred to the service, helping them to access community based activities.
