Looking after someone and having a life of your own isn't easy. Local charity Carers Trust 4all are looking for befrienders to support carers in Shropshire. A caring role can lead to social isolation; our volunteer befrienders meet carers for a chat and a cup of tea, or help out at support groups.
A carer is anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support. Local charity Carers Trust 4all are looking to establish a team of befrienders to support carers in Shropshire. Carers can become socially isolated due to their caring role; in rural areas, transport issues and caring responsibilities may make it difficult for people to access the support that is available. Our befrienders could meet carers for a chat and a cup of tea, or help out at support groups. Befrienders provide a valuable lifeline for carers, offering a listening ear or the chance to talk about shared interests or hobbies.
We are looking for volunteers of all ages who are supportive, encouraging, good listeners and non-judgemental. We are looking for volunteers who can support and inspire carers to engage with their local community.
